Scotiabank Group's Vice-Chairman and Chief Operating Officer, Sabi Marwah, welcomes all attendees on behalf of JOIN and Scotiabank Group. An overview of Scotia's global initiative "Accessibility Roadmap" was shared. Highlights of Scotiabank's IT Inclusiveness and Accessibility components included:
Accessible Guidelines for Web Pages, Employment Testing Now Usable through Assistive Technology, Adjustable User Preferences in all Software Applications, Training Videos that are Close Captioned, Accessible PDFs. All of Scotibank Group organizations are required to have information in digital ready format easily transferrable to alternative formats and structured to accessibility standards. In addition the accessibility standards have been deployed in branches in Mexico City and further accessible sites worldwide are planned. On this website you will find: Checklists for software accessibility, "Java" accessibility, IBM Lotus Notes accessibility, documentation accessibility, Standards and Governance, Accessibility Tools and Downloads, Education and Training, and Newsroom and Resource Lists. The second featured local initiative highlighted networking luncheons where senior executive meet and mingle with pre-screened candidates with disabilities for potential interns and hires into the bank. The entire proceedings were taped and captioned and they are available if anyone would like them.
