Deloitte White Paper - The road to inclusion: Integrating people with disabilities into the workplace

The Job Opportunity Information Network's newest BLN (Business Leadership Network) member Deloitte, released its white paper The road to inclusion: Integrating people with disabilities into the workplace, at our latest meeting held on July 7, 2010, held at Deloitte's North York offices. The white paper contains recommendations from a series of roundtable sessions held across Canada this spring, which brought together representatives from the business community, stakeholder groups, government agencies and Paralympic athletes to discuss the inclusion of people with disabilities into the workplace.
"We hope the report will kick start conversations - and action - across the country as organizations work together to become more inclusive. It's critical to the future success of our businesses and our economy, particularly in this extremely competitive environment for talent," said Jane Allen, Partner and Chief Diversity Officer at Deloitte. "We have to work together to find real solutions that will help all people make a positive impact in the workplace." In making a business case for inclusion, the white paper emphasizes the need to address barriers to the job market, looks at accessibility and accommodation issues and suggests next steps.
The white paper The road to inclusion: Integrating people with disabilities into the workplace is now available at www.deloitte.com/ca/workplace-diversity in alternative formats including: PDF version readable via text-to-speech software; E-text version to be downloaded and used with Word or Notepad; and an Audio version for people who are visually impaired. Jane Allen and Mark Dumalski, a roundtable participant and a manager in the International Tax practice at Deloitte who is visually impaired are available to comment on the findings, share their own experiences and discuss future opportunities to build on insights from the round table sessions.
